Lisa and Mark had a gorgeous ceremony at the Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison Wisconsin. The day was perfect with everything in bloom. We love the fact that they are foodies and highly recommended us to do the walking food tour in Madison (which we still need to do). We adore this couple and feel like they are friends more than clients. Thank you so much Lisa and Mark for sharing your amazing day with us.
The couple’s story:
We first met in Lisa’s sophomore (my junior) year at UW through a mutual friend and started hanging out occasionally as “just friends.” Lisa eagerly began to share my passion for golf, while I abandoned my diet of ramen noodles to experience her passion for exotic foods. Eventually, our relationship grew beyond friendship, and on June 1st 2006, Lisa and I went on our first real date: the musical “Movin’ Out” at the Overture Center. The rest of that summer was an unforgettable series of adventures together, which ended bittersweetly with my departure for graduate school in Boston and Lisa’s entry into medical school at UW. Determined to give the long distance relationship a shot, Lisa and I traveled back and forth between Boston and Madison often (once a month or more). Our weekends together were going to shows and Badger football games, visiting friends and family, and eating lots of delicious food, which gave us a welcome despite from the intense grind of our studies. We repeated this routine for 4 years, until Lisa graduated from medical school and earned a Tufts transitional year position at Brockton Hospital as an intern, only a short distance from Boston. Finally, we were able to live together, at least for a bit. I knew very soon into that year that our relationship was built to last for the long haul, so in February, I proposed after a night on the town in Boston (she gave me a resounding yes). The journey wasn’t quite over, though, as Lisa had to return to Chicago to continue her residency in Dermatology at Northwestern, and I hadn’t yet finished graduate school. In September of this year, with Lisa’s constant encouragement, I finished my Ph.D. in Neuroscience and secured a position as a postdoctoral researcher in a lab at Northwestern. I plan to move to Chicago in January, finally ending our long separation for good.
